Ryan Peniston Triumphs on his Wimbledon Singles Debut Defeating World No. 96, Henri Laaksonen
Today, on his Grand Slam debut, Ryan Peniston reached the second round with a 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 win against world No. 96 Henri Laaksonen.
Needing three sets to outplay Laaksonen, Peniston kept his game head on, pushing through the pressure.
Ranked 135 in the world, Ryan was playing in the first five-set match of his Wimbledon career.
After Laaksonen’s final shot went out, a roar of relief burst out as Peniston claimed his victory, applauding his team in the crowd.
However, the withdrawal of Grigor Dimitrov means it will lead to a second round with American Steve Johnson, who is No 93 in the world.
This is only the start of young Peniston’s career.
