British Featherweight Arnold Allen vs Former Champion Max Holloway
British featherweight and Kimura Performance athlete Arnold Allen will face former champion Max Holloway at UFC Fight Night on the 15th April 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Arnold Allen, 29, has won all 10 of his UFC fights, beat Calvin Kattar in October to rise to 4th in the UFC rankings. His opponent Max Holloway, 31, is currently ranked 1st and considered one of the best featherweights of all time. Holloway held the featherweight title between 2017 and 2019 and defended it three times before defeat by long-term rival Alexander Volkanovski.
Australia’s Volkanovski moved up to lightweight but lost against title holder Islam Makhachev at UFC 284. Should Arnold Allen beat Holloway, it would likely setup a bout against the victor of a future undisputed title fight between Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez (who beat Josh Emmett at UFC 284).
Arnold said “A win over Max Holloway has to be a title shot, it’s got to be. He’s the number one guy and ranked one for a reason. He beat Yair Rodriguez, if I can get the win then surely I get in that title contention spot. What I’d expect with a win is fighting for the title later in the year.”
